Depending on how you purchased last year’s Final Fantasy VII Remake, if you did at all, you may have to follow different steps in order to get your hands on the next-gen upgrade. The criteria are summarised on the game’s product page in the PlayStation store but it is quite wordy, so we have prepared this abridged guide.
If you previously paid to download the PS4 version of Final Fantasy VII Remake, then you simply need to navigate to the PlayStation store. From there, look for the Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade page and select the ‘‘Free PS5 Upgrade’’ option on the far left.
Likewise, if you own a PS4 copy on physical media, then all you need to do is insert that disc into your PS5 console and follow the same steps outlined above. Those who have Final Fantasy VII Remake on disc but own a digital edition of the PS5 will unfortunately be ineligible for the update.
Another caveat that may prevent you from getting the free upgrade is that you must have originally paid for Final Fantasy VII Remake on the PS4. This means that if you obtained the game as a freebie through a PlayStation Plus membership, then you will have to pay for Intergrade as if were a whole new release. Obviously, this also applies to those who never owned the game in the first place.

How to Access the New Yuffie DLC
There are also multiple ways to obtain the standalone episode. If you are buying Intergrade from scratch, then the DLC will automatically be packaged with it, no matter which bundle you choose. Incidentally, if you do go for the $89.99 digital deluxe edition, then you will also be given a digital artbook and digital mini soundtrack.
Meanwhile, if you claimed Intergrade for free, then you will need to purchase Yuffie’s DLC separately through the PlayStation store. It costs $19.99. and the general consensus is that you will get 4-5 hours’ worth of content for your money.
At the time of writing, only those in possession of a Sony console will be able to play Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade. This is because, much like the upcoming Final Fantasy XVI, it is a timed exclusive for PlayStation.
