The Lightning organization has combined both in the form of Thunder Alley, the outdoor viewing venue right outside Amalie Arena.
Thunder Alley has become a staple in Tampa, especially over the last three postseason runs. Lightning fans who aren’t able to get a ticket to the game can instead gather outside and watch their team play on the big screen.
It’s part of a trend begun by different organizations and sports. In the NHL, Toronto has Maple Leafs Square, which is also referred to as Jurassic Park for Raptors games. There’s the Moss Pit in Edmonton and the Red Lot in Calgary, among others across North America.
