That’s exactly what the Hurricanes are doing prior to Wednesday night’s Stanley Cup Eastern Conference semifinal opener against New York: The team’s website is limiting ticket sales to only those who live in North and South Carolina and southern Virginia.

That means, of course, Rangers fans looking to travel to PNC Arena in Raleigh, N.C., for Games 1, 2, 6 or 7 won’t find it easy to buy tickets through official means.

Ticketmaster issues a disclaimer on the site:

This isn’t a new tactic for teams: The approach is akin to what the Rams implemented for the NFC Championship Game, when Los Angeles attempted to limit 49ers fans in SoFi Stadium, where away fans typically hold a large presence for Rams home games.

Ample tickets remain for Game 1 of the series, set for puck drop on Wednesday, through the official first-party sites. ‘Canes fans should probably get in on the action before the tickets hit the secondary market.
