On Sept. 14, NBC Universal and Curry’s company, Unanimous Media, announced their partnership, and along with their “global talent partnership,” Curry will be helping out with various media deals, including the 2021 Ryder Cup. Curry will be an addition to GOLF Channel’s broadcast crew during the three-day tournament. The broadcasts will also be seen in the United Kingdom through Sky Sports.

Along with being an on-screen analyst, Curry will also appear on GOLF Channel’s “Live From the Ryder Cup” and “GolfPass” to discuss the event.
“Curry will join GOLF Channel/NBC Sports across various platforms during the competition as the ultimate ‘insider’ with unparalleled insight on playing as a team and winning at the highest level," the PGA Tour said in a press release.
This experience will be Curry’s first commentating job, and it’s for his secondary sport. Curry’s new role sparked some criticism online with people confused why a two-time NBA MVP would be analyzing golf.

However, the Warriors point guard is no stranger to the golf world. As an avid golf fan, Curry also plays his fair share of golf, sometimes even for an audience. He’s played two official PGA events and even has his own profile on the PGA Tour website. He played the Ellie Mae Classic in 2018, a Korn Ferry Tour event. Although he was cut, he shot a 74 in both rounds, doing better than some of the golfers.
Back in July this year, Curry chose to join his father Dell and his brother Seth in the celebrity Edgewood-Tahoe tournament over attending the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. It was his ninth appearance at this tournament.
In November 2020, Curry joined former NFL quarterback Peyton Manning in “The Match III: Champions for Change” to compete against golfer Phil Mickelson and former NBA player Charles Barkley. While Curry and Manning ended up losing 4-3, Curry still showed off his golf capabilities, especially going up against six-time major winner Mickelson.
The Ryder Cup kicks off on Sept. 24, with coverage starting at 8:00 a.m. ET on GOLF Channel.
