Currently, the feature is only available in the Americas and Japan. However, PlayStation will be adding additional regions to the list next month.
In this article, we’ll take you through the types of media you can automatically send to the app, as well as how you can set your game capture settings to auto-upload.
What Are Game Captures in the PS App?
You can quickly grab screenshots and footage of your gameplay on the PS5 using the Create button on your controller. If you pair this with the auto-upload feature, your console will send this media to the app, where you can access it for up to 14 days—this is far easier than the Twitter and messages workarounds we’ve outlined previously.
Using the app, you can send the captures to your friends on the PlayStation Network or download and share them as you would any other photo or video file—on social media, by email, through text, and more.
Keep in mind the auto-upload feature only works with non-4K videos that are less than three minutes.
How to Enable Auto-Upload Game Captures
If the feature is available in your region, you need to make sure that you have captures enabled on your PS App in addition to enabling auto-upload on your console. First, you’ll want to turn on the Stay Connected to the Internet setting and link your PS5 to the PS App if you haven’t already; this PlayStation article explains how you can do this in greater depth.
To enable captures in your PS App, open it up and head to your game library. There, you’ll find a tab called Captures beside Games, click it and select Enable.
In your PS5 menu, you’ll find the auto-upload switch in Settings under Captures and Broadcasts. Go to the Captures option and toggle on the auto-upload feature.
This menu is also where you’ll access, share, or download the captures once the feature is up and running.
Get Sharing Your Captures
PlayStation’s auto-upload feature makes sharing screenshots with your friends and followers easier than ever. If it’s in your region, go ahead and give it a try. If not, keep your eye out for more updates coming soon.
