Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are finally out, though the leaks keep coming. This time around the leaks concern DLC that the game is supposedly getting. Thanks to the mystery surrounding Area Zero, some gamers have been speculating that the DLC will tie in with Kalos. As such, it’s interesting to see what the initial Sprigatito leaks were all about to understand what might be true and what is likely fake when it comes to DLC.

The Fake Sprigatito Evolution Leaks
When the starters for Scarlet and Violet were revealed, Sprigatito instantly won the heart of cat lovers around the world. The adorable, green kitten had the attention of the internet, and gamers were very excited to see what it would evolve into. With Game Freak being tight-lipped as usual, gamers were left to rely on leaks and rumors for information. A slew of images hit the internet claiming to be leaks of Sprigatito’s evolutions.
With modern image editing tools, it has become easier than ever for mischievous folks to draw their own Pokemon and pass them off as real leaks online. Hence, it is no surprise that many of the images that made their rounds on places like Twitter and Reddit turned out to be fake Pokemon leaks. Some leakers decided to go the lazy route and pass off old characters from obscure games as Sprigatito evolution leaks, including a character from Roco Kingdom that happens to look like a green cat.
Surprisingly, some leaks, despite being fake, managed to get scarily close to the real thing. One image of Sprigatito’s final evolution had the cat standing bipedal. It wears green boots and gloves, and a black cape, looking a bit like a bandit. Meowscarada, which is the real final evolution of the Grass-type starter, also stands bipedal. Although it does not have any gloves on, the Grass/Dark Pokemon’s dark green fur on its hind legs makes it look like it’s wearing boots. It also appears to have a mask on, as well as a cape that splits in two.
The Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Leaks That Correctly Revealed Meowscarada
Within the ocean of fake leaks, there were a few that turned out to be accurate. These came from sources such as PKMNLeaks, CentroLeaks, and Riddler Khu, which have proven themselves to be accurate in the past. Months before the game’s release, Riddler Khu confirmed that Sprigatito’s final evolution will be bipedal, which was disappointing to many who were hoping the feline would keep its paws on the ground. Closer to the release of the games, the Pokedex images of Floragato, which is Sprigatito’s middle evolution, and Meowscarada leaked online. These turned out to be the real deal, introducing gamers to the cat.
Sprigatito is a great starter choice for any trainer beginning their adventure in Paldea. Meowscarada’s Flower Trick move, which has 100% accuracy and always lands a critical hit, rapidly became very popular. The Pokemon also gains access to a large range of other useful moves, including Knock Off, Trick Room, and more. Unfortunately, its weak defensive stats and its wide range of weaknesses do make it a bit of a glass cannon, but it is seeing incredible usage in competitive.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available on Nintendo Switch.
